3 Treasures of the Mushroom World

3 Treasures of the Mushroom World

3 Treasures of the Mushroom World

Herbalist David Foley explores the wonderful world of mushrooms.

Thanks to documentaries like Fantastic Fungi the public are rediscovering the wonders of mushrooms, used by herbalists for thousands of years in many eastern cultures.

Brief History

The Chinese have a very rich history of using mushrooms dating back 1500 years. Twenty-two centuries ago, Emperor Ti instructed a fleet of ships to sail to the Eastern seas in search of the magical Ling Zhi or Reishi as he believed it to confer long life.  It was only in 1960 that mushrooms of these types began to be grown commercially. At Irish Botanica we only work with suppliers who share our faith in the natural process; to do as little as possible with our raw ingredients so they stay pure and potent. We only source from mushroom farms located in mountainous areas away from centres of heavy industry. We source ethically and manufacture cleanly, and we test rigorously to ensure the final product is as unadulterated as the plants and herbs we began with.

Contemporary Stars

Now we can use the ancient wisdom of sages and herbalists and modern studies to combine the ancient three ‘Treasure Mushrooms’, Reishi, Cordyceps and Lion’s Mane in one new product with vitamin C, targeted to support the normal function of the immune system. Mushroom Complex is the latest addition to the Irish Botanica Mushroom Range, with a combination of ingredients that both compliment and reinforce each other.

Ancient Roots

In the Chinese tradition, the three treasures are considered, Jing - Essence, Shen - Spirit and Qi – Energy. Traditionally the Chinese use different mushrooms to focus on areas of the body. Each mushroom acts on slightly different receptors in the body, but combined together, they give us the widest possible benefits, especially as we grow older.

Lion’s Mane targets the nervous system, Reishi targets the adrenal system and Cordyceps targets the lungs. This combination may aid us as we grow older, as all these aspects of our being become depleted due to age and the pressures of modern living.

One more thing to remember is that Mushroom Complex can be taken long term, as it acts just like food in our body.
